Opposition leader, Tzipi Livni, testified Wednesday before the Knesset's Inquiry Committee into the authorities' handling of the Gush Katif and northern Samaria expellees. At the inquiry she said that "the government has a responsibility regarding those taken from their homes. They deserve to be placed in suitable new domiciles."
"I thought then and I still think that although I supported the disengagement - we have a commitment to the residents," Livni stressed. "Some said it was only like moving apartments, I do not agree with that. I think, and I do not mince words, that it was a displacement.”
