A report Wednesday morning said that Professor Yediya Stern, one of the four candidates for the job of Attorney General, has decided to drop out of the running. According to the report, Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman will make his choice for the candidate to replace current Attorney General Menachem Mazuz from the remaining three candidates.

The report said that Stern decided to drop out of the race when he came to understand that the tasks of the Attorney General's office will not be split into two jobs, as Neeman had wanted. Stern is one of the chief supporters of Neeman's plan, which was temporarily shelved several weeks ago.
