A Hamas delegation working on a deal to exchange captured IDF soldier Gilad Shalit for as many as 1,000 terrorists was on its way to Syria Tuesday night, news agencies said. The report said that the Hamas terrorists who had been discussing the Shalit deal in Cairo were on their way to Damascus to discuss a potential deal with top Hamas terrorists in the Syrian city.

The report by the Associated Press news agency said that the deal to exchange Shalit for the terrorists was "close to completion," but would not take place in the coming days.
