The Knesset Finance Committee approved on Monday the first reading of a bill to freeze the drought tax between January and the middle of April.

Under the bill, the tax will go into effect from the middle of April until the end of 2010. The ceiling for households up to three people will increase next year from 12 cubic meters to 16 cubic meters.
