Samarian Leaders React Sharply to Havat Gilad Fray

Members of the Shomron (Samaria) Regional Council reacted sharply Sunday evening to the confrontation between members of the Border Police and residents of the Jewish outpost community of Havat Gilad (Gilad's Farm), named after terror victim Gilad Zar.

Council Chairman Gershon Mesika contacted senior members of the Central Command to prevent more clashes. Yossi Dagan of the Samaria Residents' Council said, "It's a shame that, once again, Border Police officers try to create provocations and violent, artificial disturbances at Havat Gilad, taking into account the intervention of higher-ranking commanders who prevented highly unnecessary violence." He continued, "One must hope that the spirit of the commander of the Central Command changed and influenced those in the field for good the way the previous commander influenced them for bad."
