Haim Miler, director of the Movement for the Citizens of Jerusalem, said Monday that in recent weeks visitors to the Mount of Olives cemetery in Jerusalem have been shocked to find that dogs have been using broken monuments in the cemetery for shelter from the elements. The monuments, toppled by Arabs, are convenient places for the dogs to take up residence and to shelter their puppies, Miller said.
In a recent Knesset meeting, it was decided that the directors of four government offices would meet to decided on how to restore order and safety to the site, and Miller said that his organization would work to ensure that the decision was carried out. "We intend to ensure that there will finally be a solution to ensuring the honor of those buried in the cemetery and the establishment of a security patrol that will ensure the safety of thousands of families that come to visit their loved ones at the site," Miller said.
