The Legal Forum for the Land of Israel demanded Sunday that the attorney general make it clear whether the government is obligated to abide by the recommendations of the search committee for the next attorney general, and whether Judges Moshe Gal and Theodore Orr were obligated to inform the committee of their apparent conflicts of interests.
Judge Orr headed the search committee and Moshe Gal was one of his his three favored candidates for attorney general.
The Legal Forum's attorney, Yitzchak Bam, said that the work of the committee “raises difficult questions in the public and ethical fields as regards the prevention of conflict of interests between the committee chairman and candidates.”
