Ometz, a nongovernmental organization concerned with transparency, asked Attorney General Menachem Mazuz Sunday to instruct the Prime Minister not to present to the cabinet the names of candidates who received three votes in the search committee for the next attorney general.

Ometz said that doing otherwise would contradict the Shamgar Committees recommendation that only candidates who received four of five votes would be presented to the government.

The Prime Minister can present all of the candidates whose names were suggested to the search committee or he can present new names, Ometz noted.
