Former tennis star Tzipi Obziler has crossed court and will be an advisor to Minister of Sport and Culture Limor Livnat (Likud). She said she will work to raise values in Israeli sport, fight against illegal gambling and develop sports for women.
Obziler was born in the Tel Aviv area in 1973 and was ranked number 75 in the world two years ago. She shares the world record for 61 ties in the Federation Cup games. She reached the second round in a World Tennis Association event in 2006 and reached her first final on the WTA tour in 2007. Last August, Obziler announced her retirement from professional tennis.
