A Knesset panel on child welfare, chaired by MK Danny Danon (Likud), met with residents of the temporary village of Nitzan Tuesday, and heard many complaints about the government from residents, who are made of families who were thrown out of their homes in Gush Katif and nothern Samaria during the 2005 disengagement.
In an interview with Israel National News, Danon said that "we saw that despite the government's declarations, the children of the evictees are still not being cared for. There are many guides and counselors who are ready to help these kids, but there is no money to hire them. The counselors who are there are not being paid, and I fear that they too will leave soon, leaving the children without anyone to work with them." Danon added that every time he comes to Nitzan, he gains a greater understanding of just how terrible the disengagement was.
