Intelligence and Atomic Energy Minister Dan Meridor said Monday that he hopes the international community will see results soon from the coalition put together by the United States to put pressure on Iran regarding its nuclear development program. Speaking at the Saban Forum on Israel-United States relations, taking place in Jerusalem, Meridor said that one thing is clear: action must be taken quickly to stop the Iranian nuclear race.
Senator Joe Lieberman said during the discussion that he supported US President Barack Obama's decision to turn to Iran without preconditions as a test, which the Tehran government failed. He added that Iran won't stop the program unless it knows its government is in danger, and in 2010 sanctions must be toughened, but not at the expense of the Iranian people, which the government fears more than sanctions.
