The Knesset will vote on Monday on a second and third reading of the “Biometric Bill”. The law calls for the establishment of a biometric database of state citizens. When a new ID card is issued, it will include an electronic chip that includes personal information and fingerprints.
The bill's opponents claim that the sensitive biometric information to be saved in the Interior Ministry's computers can easily be leaked and will soon become common knowledge.
