The Forum of Legal Students has asked a number of Knesset members to withdraw their support for an initiative by Justice Minister Ya'akov Ne'eman to extend the period of specialization to two years. The move is intended to improve the quality of legal work
Forum Chairman Amir Ziskind says, "It's suprising that Members of Knesset - who say that the narrowing of social gaps is important to them - are assisting an initiative that will only make the gaps wider and close the gates of the profession before the weaker populations." He says the extension will only produce a cheaper work force and accuses the justice minister of working out of personal and economic interests that will return the profession to its elitist days.
