Defense Minister Ehud Barak updated Secretary of Defense Robert Gates of the United States Monday on the intelligence and operational picture of the Syrian-bound Iranian arms shipment on board the ship Francop, which Israel intercepted last week close to Cyprus. They discussed the need for continued cooperation against the smuggling of weapons to Hamas and Hizbullah in the wake of Hamas's recent test of a rocket capable of reaching the Tel Aviv area.
The two also discussed the Iranian nuclear threat and the next steps the international community has to take on that matter.
