Opposition Leader Tzipi Livini said Sunday night "I believe today, more than ever, that the more women reach positions of influence - in economics, politics, in every field - Israeli society will be better."
Speaking at the "Women [are a] Leadership Change" conference at the University of Tel Aviv, Livni said, "I discovered during the last election that what I took for granted - my right and ability to compete for the position of prime minister of Israel - is not taken for granted by part of the public, which is not able to internalize that a woman can make security decisions. For some of them it's okay that a woman answer the phone at 3:00 in the morning, as long as she's a secretary and forwards the call."
