The Ometz good government organization said Sunday that the State Attorney's office is currently investigating the methodology whereby individuals are chosen to receive the Israel Prize. The investigation will focus on the criteria for candidates, selection process, and decision making.
The organization said that it was informed of the investigation by the Education Ministry, and that it comes in response to complaints by Israelis that several of the recipients were not deserving of the prize.
