Labor Leftist Breakaway Group to Meet Sunday

A new, more leftist breakaway group within the Labor Party will have its first meeting in Tel Aviv Sunday. The group, which calls itself "the democratic podium," is led by Mks Pines, Peretz, Cabel and Tamir.

The four opponents of party leader Ehud Barak have taken on as their first issue the division of the Attorney General's tasks into two jobs, but the Mks say that the issue is just emblematic of the many, such as the peace process, that the Labor Party has not analyzed, with Barak preferring the safety of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's coalition.
