Residents of the northern Samaria community of Homesh managed to prevent a Friday evening eviction shortly before the Sabbath began. Supporters of the fledgling community, which was destroyed in the 2005 Disengagement, spent the Sabbath at the site following the expulsion effort.

Soldiers arrived at the community late on Friday afternoon and began confiscating possessions, including the food which had been prepared for the Sabbath. Regional Jewish leaders quickly contacted MK Zeev Elkin (Likud), a member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, who spoke to Defense Minister Ehud Barak, and ultimately convinced troops to stop the operation.

Troops left the food in the area when they left. However, residents charge that soldiers deliberately spilled several containers of water before withdrawing.
