Education Minister Gidon Saar called Saturday night for all Israelis, including the political Right, to be welcomed at events mourning assassinated Prime Minister Yitchak Rabin. Speaking at a memorial rally to mark 14 years since Rabin was killed, Saar said “A large sector of society, which was hurt and angered by the murder, was pushed out of the 'mourning tent' for too long.”
The time has come to include all Israelis in mourning Rabin, instead of placing blame on any particular sector of society for the murder, Saar continued. “Fourteen years have passed, and the time has come for each of us to reach out to his brother... A leader like [Rabin] deserves to be mourned by the entire people.”
