Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad called Saturday for the international community to institute “direct intervention to make sure Israel implements those orders required of it.” Israel cannot be counted on to carry out its diplomatic commitments, he accused.
"We cannot count on Israel to end the occupation... Israel will never end the occupation,” Fayyad said. He blamed “Israel's stubbornness” for stalled talks with the PA.
Fayyad's accusations mirrored those of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, who on Thursday blamed Israel for stalled talks in a speech announcing his decision not to seek reelection.
