The Shabak Israel Security Agency recruited Yaakov Teitel - suspected of committing a series of terror attacks over the past 12 years - as a source of information on Land of Israel activists, according to a Friday report by Yediot Acharonot. Shabak officials reportedly contacted Teitel after he had already been questioned on suspicion of being involved in the 1997 murder of two Arabs.
In a statement regarding Teitel's months as an agent, the Shabak said, "we held several meetings with him which did not yield a thing, and immediately afterwards the ties were cut."
