The Israeli Foreign Ministry late Thursday rejected the vote by the United Nations General Assembly to endorse the Goldstone report on Israel's Operation Cast Lead in Gaza last winter and send it to the UN Security Council. The General Assembly vote is non binding, but the Security Council could vote for sanctions against Israel, although the United States, which voted against the General Assembly resolution, and other Security Council members with veto power, have expressed their opposition.
A Foreign Ministry statement said, "The results of the voting, and the large number of countries who voted against or abstained, clearly show that the Assembly's decision did not enjoy the support of the moral majority."
