The United States Army said as many as nine people were killed and 20 wounded in a pair of shootings at the Fort Hood Army base between Dallas and San Antonio on Thursday. Authorities said that the shootings did not appear to be part of a terroist attack.
An army spokesman said the shootings began at a personnel and medical processing center on the base. The second incident took place at a base theater. The spokesman said two shooters were apparently involved, and one has been captured while the second still is at-large. There is no word yet on who they were, nor on identities of the dead.
The base has been the scene of a number of violent incidents in recent years.
