The Haifa Magistrates' Court severely criticized the IDF for failing to have a conscript evaluated psychiatrically despite knowing that he had suffered from mental problems in the past.
The soldier's family sued the IDF after he committed suicide, claiming that he suffered from schizophrenia and that the condition erupted as a result of stress he experienced in the IDF.
Judge Zaid Falah said that the connection between the enlistment and the outbreak of the illness was not proven, however.
