Former MK Nissan Slumiansky (NRP) has complained to Mifal HaPayis – the body in charge of Israel's lotteries – for discriminating against the religious Zionist sector.
Slumiansky's anger was aroused by a Mifal HaPayis advertising campaign geared at the hareidi sector, inviting hareidi yeshiva students to participate in a Torah-article competition, and promising the writers of the best articles monetary awards and other prizes.
Slumiansky noted that the religious-Zionist sector comprises about 20% of the Israeli population and has over 100 yeshivas and midrashas, asked why the campaign is only aimed at the hareidi audience.
