Due to the worsening economic situation in the U.S., the Masbia Soup Kitchen, the only kosher soup kitchen in New York, plans to open new three new branches. The new soup kitchens will be located in Flatbush, Williamsburg and Queens.

The first Masbia location, which opened in 2005, is located in Borough Park, and serves an average of 150-200 meals a day.
