      Foreign Diplomatic Appointments Announced


      A number of appointments were announced Monday, following a weekend meeting of the committee on appointing heads of delegations to foreign countries, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon. The appointments are subject to approval by the government and the host countries.

      If approved, Foreign Ministry Director-General Yossi Gal will be sent to Paris, where he will also act as non-resident ambassador to Monaco. Ministry Spokesman Aryeh Mekel will be the ambassador to Greece. Not even leaving the country will be the non-resident representative to Moldova, Oren David.

      Other appointments: Alexander Ben-Tzvi to Slovakia; Michael Harari to Cyprus; former ambassador to Romania Rodica Radian-Gordon to Mexico, where she will be non-resident ambassador to the Bahamas; Dan Ben-Eliezer to Bucharest; Daniel Saban to Costa Rica (non-resident representative in Nicaragua); Ze'ev Ben-Aryeh to Latvia (non-resident for Lithuania); and Shemi Tzur to New Zealand.
