Livni: No Room in Israel for Hate Crime Reported: 04:47 AM - Nov/02/09
(IsraelNN.com) Opposition Leader Tzipi Livni said Sunday night that there is no room in Israel for hate crime of the sort allegedly committed by Ya'akov Teitel of the Samarian Jewish community of Shvut Rachel. Speaking at a meeting of the Kadima party council, the Kadima chairwoman said that while the function of the police and courts is to catch and judge people like this, "the job of society in Israel - particularly the society the terrorist came from - is to condemn and clarify that there is no room for people like this among us, and the duty of leadership is to educate all the children of Israel from an early age - on the basis of common values which form the basis of our existence as a society here." Livni added, "This evening we have already heard the leaders of the group from which the terrorist came, who have come out with sharp criticism of his action.
