State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss said Sunday he was dropping an investigation against Bank of Israel chairman Stanley Fischer over attempts to remove from his post Bank Hapoalim chairman Danny Dankner. The investigation had been demanded by Sherry Arison, who has a controlling stake in Bank Hapoalim, over alleged missteps by the BOI in the affair.

The Comptroller suggested, however, that the BOI conduct an internal investigation on the matter.
