Israel police are conducting a national campaign to ensure that the only people who park in handicapped parking spots are handicapped people. The head of the Traffic Police, Avi Ben Hamu, is conducting seminars around the country to better educate police on the laws surrounding handicapped parking spaces, and to encourage more enforcement of the laws.
Besides ensuring that only vehicles with handicapped stickers park in the spots, police will also conduct inspections to ensure that the stickers are not forged. In a statement, police said that the rate of such forgeries was high.
