Yaalon: Halutz Was Guilty of 'Arrogance'

Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon accused former IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz of "arrogance," which led Israel to face losses during the Second Lebanon War. In a weekend speech, Yaalon said that Halutz, who commanded IDF forces during the war, was a "tragic" figure. "He did an excellent job as commander of the air force and deputy Chief of Staff," Yaalon said. "But when he became chief of staff several things happened which were tied to the sin of arrogance, a sin which caused much damage in Lebanon," he said.

During his speech, Ya'alon said that Israel was gathering intelligence in Lebanon. "We will stop these activities when Hizbullah disarms and our border with Lebanon is peaceful. As long as we are in conflict with an enemy we will gather intelligence," he said.
