About sixty Jews from Yemen were smuggled into the United States over the past several months, the Wall Street reported Saturday. The exodus has reportedly been conducted by the U.S. State Department with the cooperation of the Yemen government, which has been unable to defend the Jewish community in Yemen from attacks by Shi'ite radicals, the report said.
The airlift of Jews began last July, the report said, adding that the security situation for Jews in the country has deteriorated since Operation Cast Lead. The report said that there were about 350 Jews in the country before the airlift started.
