Chaim Cohen, the legal advisor for the Yesha (Judea and Samaria) Human Rights Council, has asked the president of the Juvenile Magistrates Court in Tel Aviv to dismiss unprecedented charges against six youths from Judea and Samaria who demonstrated opposite the home of former Judea and Samaria commander Noam Tivon in protest of the army's persecution of residents of the region.
Prosecutors are seeking jail time on charges of demeaning a public servant and invading his privacy. Cohen cites selective enforcement of the law, harming freedom of speech and wasting the court's time as reasons to dismiss the charges. He noted that other, more violent demonstrations by leftists did not result in any charges and asked the court make the accusers pay the court costs.
