Livni: Drought Law Bad but Don't Break It

Kadima party Chairwoman Tzipi Livni told a meeting of the faction on Thursday night that the party will take a parliamentary approach against a law that currently provides fines for excess water use and will reportedly result in a 50 percent rate hike in 2010. Former Knesset speaker Dalia Itzik has proposed a bill against the law.

Livni said, "The water law, also known as the drought law, is a bad law." Responding to calls for a revolt against the law, she added, "We must be clear that Kadima will definitely not break the law. That 's my position, the position of Kadima and the position of all Knesset members who are dealing with the subject."
