As memorial events for slain Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin begin, a number of nationalist activists have begun distributing pamphlets slamming the “Rabin Legacy” that is honored during memorial ceremonies. The pamphlets were distributed Thursday morning at several schools.
Activists began by expressing respect for Rabin “as a private citizen” and denouncing violence, but went on to define Rabin's political legacy as one of “giving weapons to terrorists, abandoning our homeland, and leaving Jews undefended.” The pamphlets encourage students to “tell the thought police 'enough!'” by refusing to take part in memorial events aimed at promoting Rabin's political views.
