The Personalities Committee of the Jerusalem municipality rejected on Tuesday the naming of streets of Major Roi Klein and Lieutenant-Colonel Emanuel Moreno, who were killed during the Second Lebanon War in 2006. The committee said memorializing the two is under the purview of the city's Memorial Committee.
City Council Member Yair Gabai, who nominated the two, criticized the decision as anti-Zionist and anti-educational. He said he was sure that Mayor Nir Birkat would change the decision, explaining that the mayor shares his views on perpetuating the fallen of Israel's conflicts through street names.
