Exports by Israel's 100 largest exporters totaled $5.53 billion in the third quarter of 2009, according to figures releasedd by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor on Monday. Globes reports that the figures are similar to the second quarter, but 23 percent less than the same quarter in 2008.
A breakdown of exports by region showed a 13.8 percent increase in exports to North America and a 17.9 percent increase to Asia during the quarter, while exports to Europe fell by 7.1 percent.
