Rabbi Elyakim Levanon of Elon Moreh and head of the Hesder Yeshiva there, demanded Sunday night that Pinchas Wallerstein resign as Director-General of the Judea and Samaria (Yesha) Council, following Wallerstein's criticism of soldiers who waived a banner last week saying their battalion would not uproot Jewish communities.

Rabbi Levanon, who serves on the council, said Wallerstein was in the minority and urged every soldier to reveal his views in public. He explained, "Clear value-oriented statements by soldiers are a clear sign of the general public feeling against the eviction of any Jews from their home.”
