Police Use Force to Break Up Agriculture Protest

Police arrested two people and detained six more for questioning after a demonstration by farmers at the Tzvi Junction on behalf of permits for 600 Thai workers to help with the fall harvest blocked the Arava highway, according to News One. Police on horseback using clubs were assisted with riot control measures to break up the demonstration.

An estimated 1,200 farmers took part in the demonstration, claiming the lack of the foreign workers poses a threat to the harvest.
