Beginning Sunday, Israel Police are holding a special traffic operation aimed at reducing private use of public transportation lanes. As the operation continues, officials will assess its success in reducing travel time in public lanes.
Israel has over 165 kilometers of roads and highways that have been designated as lanes in which buses and other forms of public transport have precedence. However, the lanes are frequently used by private vehicles as well, a situation which is thought to reduce the effectivity of public transport.
