(IsraelNN.com) Member of Knesset Ronit Tirosh (Kadima) called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Friday to get involved immediately in the matter of the rising price of water. It was announced on Friday that water rates are likely to go up more than 50 percent in January.

Referring to a penalty for excess water use enacted earlier this year, Tirosh said, "Now it is clear why it was so urgent for the government to pass the drought tax. It wanted to manage to pass the small increase before the big hike, about whose proportions we found out about today." She said if the prime minister does not get involved there will be no choice but to call for a consumer revolt.
