The Forum for Political Reform in Israel will convene its inaugural meeting on October 25, chaired by Supreme Court President (emeritus) Justice Meir Shamgar and featuring the participation of the Speaker of the Knesset, former Knesset speakers, academic experts, retired judges, public figures and businessmen. The Forum was founded by the president of the Israel Democracy Institute, Dr. Arye Carmon, “due to the urgent need to generate significant improvement in the capabilities and functioning of the Knesset.”

The group will review several proposed reforms to the electoral system, the government and the political party structure. Participants include: Speaker of the Knesset, MK Reuven Rivlin, Former Knesset speakers Avraham Burg, Shevah Weiss and Dan Tichon, Judges Dalia Dorner, Eliyahu Matza and Yitzchak Engelhard, and others.
