MKs Yisrael Hasson and Moshe Matalon agreed to a request by the government to postpone by a month a vote on a bill designed to tighten the conditions for exemption from army service for women based on religious grounds. The postponement is designed to enable the political parties to reach new understandings.
Before the decision, there was great tension in the coalition, due to fears that some of its members would support the bill - which might have lead to a crisis with the Shas party.
