(IsraelNN.com) Tuesday marked the 65th anniversary of the death of Asher Tratner, a member of the Jewish Irgun underground resistance organization that operated prior to the founding of the State of Israel.

Tratner died in British hands; he was shot during his capture by the British police in Haifa, and died after the British refused to grant him medical treatment. Tratner, born in the city of Breslov, was the youngest graduate of Yeshivat Kfar HaRo'eh. He immigrated to Israel with his family at the age of 8 and lived in Kfar Chassidim, near Haifa.
