      Security Cabinet to Discuss Goldstone

The security-diplomatic cabinet is scheduled on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the United Nations Human Rights Council decision last week to adopt the Goldstone Report, which accuses Israel of war crimes during the Cast Lead counter-terror campaign in Gaza last winter.

Establishment of a committee on inquiry is not on the agenda, but could be brought up by one of the ministers. The Foreign Ministry is expected to present a program of activities on the diplomatic and public relations fronts, while the Justice Ministry will present proposals for dealing with legal implications of the report.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told the Likud Knesset faction on Monday that Israel will see to it that adoption of the report by the UN is vetoed. The General Assembly is expected to take up the report by the end of the year.
