Interparliamentary Conference Won't Discuss Goldstone

By a vote of 1,197-538, the 121st Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union voted Monday against a motion by Iran to discuss the Goldstone report on Israel's counter-terror Operation Cast Lead in Gaza. Israel managed to defeat a motion relating to Gaza at the group's last assembly in Ethiopa in April.

During debate on the resolution, Vice Premier Silvan Shalom, who headed the Israeli delegation, said the world was tired of motions against Israel by Iran and the Arab world. After the vote, he took a line from Israel's national anthem and said, "We have not lost our hope yet."
