Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu asked Education Minister Gidon Sa'ar and Prof. Manuel Trajtenberg, the head of the Higher Education Council's Committee for Planning and Budgets on Sunday to prepare a proposal in three weeks to create funds to return Israeli academicians who have gone abroad. The funds would receive money from Jews abroad.
The prime minister's request follows a call for such a fund from Minority Affairs Minister and former Ben-Gurion University president Avishai Braverman, in the wake of a report that the biggest concentration of Israeli faculty members in any one country is in 40 institutions of higher learning in the United States.
