Defense Minister Ehud Barak visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camps in Poland on Thursday as part of the "Witnesses in Uniform" project.
Following a memorial service for those who died there, Barak wrote, "Remember and don't forget. Preserve our strength and know to depend only on ourselves. A strong Israel is both consolation and revenge for all those who died. Auschwitz - never again."
The defense minister is scheduled to lead a memorial service in the Warsaw Ghetto Thursday evening, along with officers and other soldiers participating in the project.
