Crystal to Acquire Tadiran Carrier Factory

The Crystal home appliance company is expected to sign an agreement to purchase Tadiran Carrier's air conditioning factory in Afula for an estimated NIS 90 million. No solution is expected, however, for the 400 factory employees slated to be laid off, sources close to the negotiations said.

Several months ago Tadiran Carrier announced it was planning to close down the Afula factory and transfer production to China. The local government said it has agreed to waive city taxes (arnona) for three years and would consider extending large grants to keep the factory open.
