An Egyptian security official said Monday that Egyptian police had destroyed or sealed five of the thousands of smuggling tunnels leading from the Sinai peninsula into the Gaza town of Rafah on the Egyptian border.
The official told Deutsche Presse Agentur that police discovered a large amount of material used for construction inside the tunnels, including paint and cement piled inside plastic bags and ready to be smuggled into the Hamas-controlled area.
